Who is Juanjo Guarnido ?

Juanjo Guarnido was born in Granada, Spain, in 1967. He studied Fine Arts in Granada.

Career

He started with illustrations and magazine work in Granada, then moved to Madrid in 1990 where he worked for a TV series several years. In 1993, he moved to Paris to work for Walt Disney Studios, and was the lead animator for the character Sabor on the feature Tarzan. In November 2000, he published Somewhere Within the Shadows, a comic book which was well-received. This was the start of the very successful Blacksad series.

Juanjo Guarnido's piece represents Blacksad's heroin surrounded by comics and animation icons : Spirou, Totoro, Mickey Mouse... He proved once again he's a master of illustration.
