Dominique was born in 1972 in Tours, France. He went to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Rennes and then Angoulême in the section Comics.
Dominique Bertail created with Thierry Smolderen, a writer he met in Angoulême, the diptich 'L'Enfer des Pelgram' at Delcourt in 1998 and 2000. He also maintained the site coconino-world.com for four years. He is the author of the albums 'L'Homme Tableau' (2000) and 'L'Homme Nuit' (2002), that were published by Alain Beaulet. He has worked recently with writer Thierry Smolderen on the futuristic thriller 'Ghost Money' (Dargaud, 2008 onwards). Dominique Bertail is furthermore active as an illustrator (Bayard, Fluide Glacial, Casterman) and a story-board artist (advertising and cinema).
Dominique Bertail painted a double-page with total freedom with regards to the theme. He thought of a place he'd like to be and painted it. He also made a reference to Lou Romano's contribution, by reproducing it in a frame.
